Recently i've been thinking about attending Wayne State Community college for fine art(s) in Michigan, but the question is, is it really worth it?

Please note this is a community college so expenses are about 15k a class.

I'm really just wondering if it's something I should look into further, so what're your views on college?

It really depends what other talents you have.

If you've already found a talent that you're good at, like boxing or YouTube then you could try and pursue that as a goal. If you've got no real stand-out talents then I'd go for college and do whatever course you think you would like to do. Never do something for the money, do it because you love it.

I go to college and I would say its worth it. Personally I find a lot of reward in academia and on top of that it keeps me sharp being in a constant intelligent environment. In addition opportunities for employment, though many people criticize it, are far greater with a degree than without, depending on what you want to do. That's honestly a huge factor. I want to go to a grad school so it's essential for me. I think education is a fundamental must, through college, but at the same time I understand not everyone can go/afford/want to go. I would say evaluate what you want with you life, or at least a general direction and you should be able to know if it's worth it. Honestly it is a very subjective question, to some it's worth it, to others it's not. For me, like I said, college is amazing and I would never exchange this experience, but it could be different for you. I'm very pro-college, but at the end of the day the only thing that matters in what you want to do and if college will give you an opportunity to excel in that area and expand your horizons.

I've learned that it depends on what you study. Things like political science aren't worth studying because they won't land you a good job. These days, it looks like people should really aim for degrees in STEM because the job market has a demand for those degrees. If not you'd just be struggling with finding a job and student debt.

Yeah I believe when I payed for my course it was cheap compared to others. I live in the UK right not in USA. It's worth what you're learning in that course/lesson.

It really depends on the career path you decide on following. Paths like Graphic Design, you do not really need a degree to go into it, but if you want to branch off into interactive design like I do you really should go to school!

L1A, I am also from Michigan and there is no way one class is 15k especially at a community college. Check the tuition to be competent in deciding whether you want to attend college or not. For fine arts I would at least pursue an associate degree to get involved with the arts and see what you like from there. I'm going for my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and it's very beneficial for me to go to college to get education that will help me secure job in the future.

depends on what you want to do in life, some people have very good connections and get a job with no college and make good money. some people go to college and can't find a job. i myself wonder if i should go to college or not.
