People that do this, I hate you with a passion. Some of my good friends from high school even do this (They follow the superior one of the group) which is why I barely hang out with those guys anymore. It's like this idea that if your friends are doing it then you've got to smoke cigarettes and weed and drink alcohol 24/7 and apparently if you don't do this and you're straight edge then you're a p**sy. I've never gone near any drug that isn't prescribed by a doctor (pain killers etc) in my life and I won't.
Thoughts?

Agree. People doing drugs and drinking (mostly underage) to impress their friends don't deserve ANY friends.
It's all fun and games to them, yet the concequences drugs and alcahol can have on some
especially under the age of 18 can be serious. Like whats the point?

In my opinion I wouldn't hate anyone for this but instead provide support for the individual. Also, not everyone who uses drugs is doing it because everyone else is. I know plenty of people who use drugs and are doing it because it's their choice and they enjoy doing it which isn't a bad thing but also isn't necessarily a good thing either. I also don't believe all drugs are harmful to you but there are definitely plenty that are.

This is a prime example of a group of people not being your friends. If a group of people are doing something that you're not interested in doing and they're becoming assertive about the situation then that most likely isn't a positive group of people to surround yourself with.

Also in a a study conducted in 2013, more than 15 million people around the world are addicted to opioid painkillers, such as Vicodin and OxyContin, compared to 13 million people who are addicted to marijuana, according to the study.
It's also said to be that opiates have gotten much stronger over time and this creates more dependence. If you think about it, the painkillers that are being prescribed by doctors could potentially be very harmful.

States that have legalized the use of medical marijuana to manage chronic pain and other conditions have a 25 percent lower rate of deaths from opioid drug overdose than states where medical marijuana is illegal, according to a new study.
The researchers at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center found rates of death from prescription painkiller overdoses climbed steadily from 1999 to 2010. But in states where medical marijuana use is legal, the rates of overdose were, on average, 25 percent lower. The study looked at data on death certificates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
From doing my research I've come to believe that marijuana is a much safer alternative to any prescribed painkiller or any drug in general.

Of course, marijuana is not harmless either. Excessive use can lead to respiratory discomfort, although the drug itself has not been linked to lung damage. Studies have also shown cannabis can be addictive, however much less addictive than alcohol and even less than caffeine. Thats not to say that marijuana cant be habit-forming: Between 4 and 9 percent of regular pot users can develop dependence on the drug, according to a frequently cited survey supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Thats compared with about 15 percent of drinkers who develop a dependence for alcohol.

I don't take drugs, I drink barely to be honest, yeah I agree with you basically some of my friends do drugs so I don't hang out with them anymore. I will get arrested or get into trouble so I don't get it. I don't smoke, or smoke in general. I just vape because I just like the flavors.

It's just peer pressure, we live in a time where people would rather follow the crowd and conform than be unique and live their own life. If people want to drink and take drugs because the 'popular' people do then let them, they're destroying themselves when it comes down to it and whilst it is always good to have fun, doing that is going to do no favours in the future.

My cousin started this crap which is a lot of the reason I don't hang out with him anymore. His dad (not blood father but the man who raised him since he was a baby) found a new girl that he married when my cousin was like 13 or 14. This girl had kids, so his dad pretty much threw him to the side. He then was looking for a "father figure" of sorts and quickly fell into the world of drugs because the older kids where doing it. His dad (the one with the new wife that he divorced about a year or two ago) called me up a week ago asking me to mow his lawn. I asked where is son was because he could probably use the money. His response to me was probably somewhere between Seattle and Bellingham smoking pot. That's almost a 100 mile radius and you don't know where your son is? It's not like he's a run-a-way, he lives with his mom and has a ton of respect for her.
I get that somethings in life are hard like the guy who thought was your dad throwing you away, but you don't need drugs to get over it. They'll take your mind off the situation until your high wears off in a couple hours, but you know what works a lot better? Hard work. It takes my mind off life in general for the 8-16 hours I'm working. There are other routes guys, don't follow drugs. It might look like the cool path or the easiest path right now, but it will close behind you and you won't be able to get out.

I can't sit here and entirely agree with you because yes I love a cig, I like to drink and I don't mind drugs but then again that's been my mindset because I'm just another fabrication of my surroundings.
Simple thing to do is ignore it and do what you want to do man, it's your life. If people want to snort MDMA until there eyes look like they are going to pop out of there head then let them slowly ruin there lives by shooting up heroin.
Then again not everybody that has a cheeky line becomes a smack head.
