I took driver's ed in school for free. Only downside was it was a semester long . Permit test/license was about $60 total.

Drivers Ed was $550 here and for the license test I think it was $100, another $100 when I go to get the complete license, the driver's ed was good since it takes a chunk out of insurance.
Edit - Driver's Ed isn't required here but it knocks quite a chunk out of your insurance costs, and I have a couple friends who just got there license and theres is a noticable difference.

It isn't required in the US to have Drivers Ed. I took it in school but it was no more than $10 for the class. After passing the class you get a yellow card. Which means you can take the yellow card to the DMV and they will give you your license without you having to take a test. Your license should cost no more than $30 tho. All Drivers Ed does is makes your insurance cheaper and makes it where you do not have to take the actual Drivers Test at the DMV.

Probably a few hundred over here in the UK. Plus my test twice as I failed mine the first time. But of course you need to think about your theory test also.

it took me $10 for my learners and $10 for my license. Didn't take any classes. Read the book and drove around in a parking lot until i was comfortable enough to drive on the road.

I Never took lessons, you really don't need to. So total it was like $40 for the permit/license and that was it.

I had 10 official lessons but had experience from hooning round the skreetz.
10 lessons was £100, i think the theory was £30 and final test was around £60-£80. This was a few years ago tho.
really it depends on how confident you are behind the wheel.

Didn't take any classes. Took 3 online courses that were $50 and then paid for my license. Maybe around $40. So under $100

For my motorcycle license, it's going to cost $100 for the course and $75 for the license itself. I just had to pay $75 for my drivers license and like $110 in registration fees.
