Hello, I am currently building a new computer to play in my living room. I have everything pretty much decided or picked out already except the CPU. I am between an i7-4770k or an i7-4790k. I can get the 4770k brand new in a factory sealed box for $200 on craigslist right now. As for the 4790k I have only found it around $320. Is the performance increase from the 4770k to the 4790k worth the extra $120?

I think you would be fine with the 4770 because the 4790 isn't that much better especially for the $120 difference.

4770k and 4790k are almost identical. They're pretty much the exact same chip, but the 4790k has improved thermals and slightly higher stock clock speeds. The 4790k will run slightly cooler and slightly faster overall than a 4770k. A boxed 4770k for $200 sounds hella sketchy to me though.

Then again, what on Craigslist isn't sketchy when it has a below average price on it
