Many fans and gaming journalist are calling the PS4 Neo and terrible idea, and one that will hurt the playstation brand in addition to fragmenting the gaming market. The Playstation Neo could literally be the dark horse Microsoft has been looking for, a way to break through the consoles strong hold after fans stop purchasing the console, or switch their allegiance if sony betrays their trust by forcing people to upgrade midway through the console cycle, or else be stuck with a console that has inferior graphics. what do you guys think, will you be picking up a PS4 Neo or choosing to sit out this upgrade? The video below provides more details on why gamers may want to avoid upgrading to the Neo.

Well, ah, I'm personally not going to pick one up. I just don't see a reason to buy another PS4, unless the industry pushes for permanent consoles; which has been speculated quite a bit lately. From what I last heard, the visuals only scale 4K, and are not native (they may have made efforts to improve this, but to meet cost requirements- perhaps not).
As far as the decision, it's probably not conceptually a bad idea; just how big is the 4K audience?
Then again, GDC pushed the VR industry pretty hard. Maybe this is Sony's approach to cater the processing speed and resolution for the VR scene. That begs the other question: How large is the console VR audience anyways?
Statistically (judging from the general audience), it's probably just a bad idea. Something is out of place, weird, and just plain janky about it. I can't help but to think it's business suits sprawled in their executive chairs chuckling at what they assume to be large profit margins.

I don't often play games, if i do then its on a PC. I have been thinking about getting a PS4 or Xbox one. I might buy one of these if the price is ok.

You make an excellent point. The worst part is that not only is it simply upscaling to 4K however, they are definitely going to announce a PS5 within 2-3 years of releasing it.

the xbox one slim or whatever and the ps4 like what is it the 3rd version of this console? are both stupid ideas if you want 4k play pc people shouldnt want 4k on a console since they wont be able to have the fancy fps cap lifted cause sony wants a fair play yet 60v144fps would pretty much both be the same but companies like microsoft sony nintendo dont know how to make their hardware not suck who ever picks one of these up is an idiot cause you can just find a ps4 one of the older models for 100$
