I can't imagine the pain you are going through right now. My dog just turned 1, 2 days ago. If I lost my dog to a car or to anything actually, I would literally cry so much. I love my dog and I can't imagine what state of mind you are in. Good luck OP.

Not trying to be a dick but it is your parents fault for losing the dog in the first place

This is true, but it can be very hard to keep a dog under control. My dogs are fairly well trained, I let them play in the yard off leash and we have no fence. They know their boundaries, but if they see a rabbit (great time of year for that), they take off. They don't hear you so in a split second they are gone and across the road. Who knows where they will loose the trail. What we all know is going back home isn't the first priority. Where ever they are, there is new sights and smells they need to check out and of course there are roads around so dogs get hit.
If we are pointing fault at the human, then yes, it is their fault but only to a certain extent. I know some people have dogs where they will try to sneak out the door behind you and they're gone. It's not like these people threw a ball down the road and said have a good day come back when you're ready.

Thank you for typing that. I didn't know how to word it. But yes, that's what happened. My dog likes to wander if he smells pollen or sees cats and he'll chase them, and there was a lot of both around the area. I guess I should use past tense words
