As far as I'm aware most GPU's can withstand up up to 90C but it's not healthy to have it that high for a long period of time. Ideally you would want it between 70-80C. Cleaning out your computer will help as no electricals like dust although the temperature will be effected by your room temperature, try opening a window or getting some circulation to keep the surrounding temperature down. You may find reducing the graphics settings of your game will help your computer stay cool.

What fps are you reaching? What is your monitor refresh rate? You should limit your fps to what ever your monitor refresh rate is. I had the same problem(but at a lower temp). My monitor is only 60Hz or something like that, so i limited the fps to 60(i was putting out about 300 fps which it was limited to for some reason) and it made a much needed improvement. If you do not know how to limit fps, then please google it. It is fairly easy.

I was reaching the mid hundreds and above. I reduced the frame limit to 80 and it seems to have fixed the problem, for this game anyway. If it happens in any other games then i'll try the same

Recommended temperatures for this card is 80 C. Generally they can handle up to 90 C, but it's not healthy to constantly have it at that high temperature.
