The value of marriage in America has been brought down very low. People don't even need to know each other for more then a day to get married. In some cases, the person doesn't even have to be there for the marriage, yet he/she can still get married. In my opinion, marriage only benefits people because of lower taxes, better health care, and etc. If the government were to take these benefits away, people wouldn't get married as much. It's unfair that the government looks at married couples better than non married couples.

Moreover, marriage is just a legal contract between two people to sort out the goods. For example, you have probably heard of Kim Kardashian marrying Kris Humphries. She divorced him after just 72 days; she earned an estimated 18 million from that divorce. This is damaging for the husband. The woman wins in most cases, all the while the man loses many.

So where does it stop? Should we take the child tax write off since people might have mass kids for the write off?

I don't think the marriage benefits are worth getting married, and I doubt someone is going to post on Craigslist "let's get married to evade some taxes and never see each other". That being said, I'm all for tax evasion as our government wastes most of our tax dollars anyway.
