That might not be your router, it might be your internet speed. What speeds are you getting?

It is most likely gonna be your router. I would look into the Nighthawk Series by Netgear! They have AC 1900 Routers & they also make a AC 3200 Router (Nighthawk X6). The 3200 is if you're looking for top of the line. Depending on your needs the AC 1900 could be just enough for you. Might need to test it out to be sure

There really is no "best router" for gaming. Each one is going to do the same thing, route packets from one network to another network.

What it sounds like is you don't have sufficient bandwidth, and another person using the computer is taking priority compared to your xbox live. Or the router is so old, that it can't keep up with so many clients and is running into some problems.

I have wireless. When there's no one on the computer it works perfectly fine but as soon as someone gets on the computer I lag, whether it's be FIFA or COD, it's lagging non-stop. & ive put up with it for quite some time but it's starting to get annoying. I have a normal Linksys router, not sure of any other specifications other then It being cheap.

Adding on to what Forest said, you could get a frequency scanner on your phone or another device to analyse signal strength and see how many other signals are using the same frequency as your WiFi.

Then in your router settings you can change the WiFi to another channel so that it can transmit without being disturbed by other signals.

If I do get a wired connection to my Xbox 1, will I still have wireless capabilities with other devices such as phone & computer?
