It's almost certainly not a good idea for him to answer this with specific instances. It will just cause arguments and the topic will be closed.
He's probably talking about people in the general discussion areas of the site though, and on the internet with the mask of anonymity, it isn't hard to see how or why people would lie about things.

Well people lie to get attention but when they know they're getting caught out they change the story around. We know as normal people when idiots lie the way they word the story and also they don't need to lie. I personally would lie who I am, or what I do etc... There's no need of it.

They just do it for attention which really annoys me. I find it funny when they make it obvious they are lying then try adding onto the story.

Yup, that's the internet. People trying to make them seem better/cooler than they actually are.

I can't count the amount of times I have been in a skype group with a kid and he posts a pic from google and says it's his girlfriend. You may think that it could be his girlfriend that is potentially catfishing him, but they always lie and say they date in real life and stuff

The vehicle discussion is a popular one for people to lie about the cars they own, but they usually get caught out instantly.
