Buy a house and a car outright, keep my job and live off the earnings to pay the bills.
Stick the rest of the money in a high interest savings account and only dive into the rest of it for holidays etc.
That's what I would do.

I am from the UK so i would be getting around £675,000.
My grandparents already own one flat/apartment and i would buy another one in the block. That's around £250,000 gone. Next i would buy a two or three bedroom house around me to get onto the property ladder. Lets say that that's another £350,000. I now have £75,000 left and have a monthly income from the flat/apartment. I would now buy a nice car but nothing too special as insurance would be too high so lets make that a £15,000 car and have £60,000 left. I would carry on with a job, buy some share's in some company and keep the rest in the bank for interest.

I would eat some string cheese whilst thinking about what to do with 1 million, I would brainstorm and think of a stable business plan to make me more money, I would donate about 20k to charity.
1 million isn't as much as people think.

I'd put it in a savings account that gains intrest. At 0.1% compounded monthly you'd made $1k per month. That's on the low end of the intrest spectrum, but I'm still 18 and can work. I should be putting money in every month and it should grow to the point where I could retire and live off the intrest alone, not even looking at a 401K or pension or any of that.

tbh I wouldn't buy anything first. the first thing I would do is give some of the money to my family due to money issues. but then the first thing I would buy is definitely a really good PC
