I got Fifa 16 as a code and I redeemed it and I've been playing it the past few days maybe a week or so and yesterday and today it's not working i play the game and it just shuts down and says ' Do you own this game or app' then tells me to insert a game disc which I don't have as it was a code then directs me to the Xbox store and it costs £39.99 and I've already got the game as a code so I'm very confused

Check the 'My Games and Apps' section and see if it's on there, if it is then you should be able re-install it.

Yeah it's on there but it still says I need to buy it

if its on your apps and games section you should be able to re download it i would try to delete everything about the game and reinstall everything.
