windows live movie maker is not bad

I'm haven't really used any free editing software so I can't recommend anything, however I've used a couple of other options.

Sony Vegas Pro 11 -

(In my opinion) a really easy and good program to use for all kinds of videos. It really depends on what you want to do and what kind of level you're on. For example, if you're just starting out, this program I think is a really good option, easy to find stuff and nothing complicated really, great for basic stuff!

Adobe After Effects -

The only other editing software I can really say something about because I haven't really used much else.
This is a really good program, but it's also a lot more complicated and advanced. It feels like it's on another level, and maybe you should start learning more about editing in an easier software such as Sony Vegas.
But once you get to know After Effects, that program will really allow you to be creative and create some really dope content!

That's just my take on it, I'd recommend you starting with Sony Vegas, and then try After Effects.

These programs are not for free though.. But some YouTube searches and maybe you'll find something. Good luck man!
