Hi guys, I was given a ipad mini by a friend that had a fault and they told me if i could fix it i could keep it.

So it was working fine for my friend and then he updated the ipad through itunes to ios 9.

and ever since then it will not work.


Here are a few thing that i have figured out so far.

1: It will go into DFU mode no problem

2: it wont power on with the power button

3: I have managed to restore the ipad through itunes

4: if i hold power button and home button it will sometimes come on to the apple logo but then crash and go off again

5: some time is has come on fully and was working fine for about 5min then crashed and went back to square one.


So basically its in mint condtiton hasnt been dropped or damaged, but for some reason the screen stays black and wont come on, unless i hold power and home button then sometimes it will come on fully and then crash and go off or it will crash at the apple logo.

I have tried restoring it loads of time and still cant get this working, If anybody has any ideas or knows what might be causing this fault please comment below and i will +Rep anybody who helps.

PS: its a Ipad mini 1st gen 16gb Wifi only model.

Well you did pretty much everything I would of recommended. It sounds like it maybe something with the hardware in the iPad, if restoring it doesn't work then its not a software issue. Unless there maybe a bug with this iOS version for the iPad. Could try contacting Apple to be sure but you may need to send it off for repairs.

Yeah I was thinking the same, I had it working for about 10 mins yesterday and it was all working fine then it just turned off on its own and messed up again.

Don't want to have to pay to send it off to Apple so looks like it's done for, shame though as the condition is like brand new.
