The Xbox One hardware works different than the 360, if your Xbox is set to standby when you power off, instead of shutting completely off, and your fan is wired to one of the components that stay active in standby, it'll keep running, but if you replace the fan instead of adding a second, and wire it in the exact same way to the same solder points as the first, it should work properly and shut off with the system even in standby mode if that's what yours is set to.

I haven't messed with any internal components for an Xbox One yet, so I'm speaking from an outside point of view, for all I know, the fan for Xbox One could be socket based, then my advice would be find the same type of plug and attach them to the wire endings of your new fan and unplug the Xbox stock one and plug in the new one.

Like I said though, outside point of view, can't really be too definite, but if you PM me pictures how it's all set up internally, I could give a better answer.

thanks for the reply, the xbox one stock fan has 4 wires on it and it is a plug, i am replacing the stock fan, not adding a second, sorry i didn't specify. The fan that i am replacing it with has 3 wires, a positive, a negative, and a control, i attached the positive to the positive and the negative to the negative, and left the control alone. the way i have it set up is that i have the plug on the from the original fan plugged into the xbox and just snipped the wires and soldered the old wires + and - to the new fans + and -

Not really sure what else i could do other than try running the control to the power LED and have that activate power to the fans but i am not sure if that would work either.

Let me know what your thoughts are on this

To set this up right, personally, I'd remove the plug from the end of the wire from the stock fan, and fasten them to the custom one for ease of use, though depending on the gauge of the wires, that could be impossible. So the Xbox stock fan has 4 wires, and the custom one has 3, I'd put the positive and negative where they go, any way you deep fit whether it's soldering, or fastening the plugs, as for the control, I'd have to be there to see it, but what worries me is the 4th wire for the stock fan, and it's purpose, because if it serves a true purpose, like being a second control wire that controls it's speed and such, that might be why yours stays steady.

For the "**** it, I'm lazy" option, set it up how you had it earlier, where the fan refused to shut off even while your Xbox was in standby, and in the console settings, swap it to turn off completely instead of going into standby, which will kill power to the fan. Booting it up will take a bit longer, but at least your fan will shut off with the system.

I wish I could be there to see it, that way I'd be able to set it up and try it myself to have two minds working on it. If you have a Hd camera, and you take some pictures and make somewhat of a diagram of how it comes stock, and how you're setting it up, if you're able to do that, it might help me help you better.
