Bitcoins and the blockchain are one of the world's most intriguing technologies, and are defining the future of currency. It peaked my interest to the point where I started reading books and getting more information about it that I wanted to share. This thread assumes you have at least, the most basic understanding of what Bitcoin is, how to build an extremely simple website, and of course upload that site.

Currently the value of 1 bitcoin is around $590 or roughly 450 GBP and 532 Euros.

By adding a tutorial for faucets to this site, I figured as members of a tech-oriented site like TTG, we would be able to come together as a community to help one another profit from this technology.

What is a Bitcoin Faucet?

A bitcoin faucet is a website that gives users a small amount of bitcoin (usually .00000001) every designated amount of time (example every 60 minutes); all the visitor has to do is enter their wallet address. As a result, they can come back and have a chance at reaching a higher amount of bitcoin each time the counter resets.

Sounds easy enough right? No, because the provider of these bitcoins will be you, or the owner of the site. However, these faucets can potentially create revenue from captchas & advertisements (both which are explained later). To fund your faucet as well, you can simply just use your wallet address in other faucets.

If everyone on TTG had a faucet, we could all make each other a considerable amount of bitcoin & advertisement revenue. So let's get started

Requirements
-A Bitcoin wallet (if you don't have one you can get one [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
-A hosting provider and domain name (I'm using BlueHost as it gives you both a host & domain with one price , but Hosting Gator would work as well)
-FIleZilla or any other FTP Client
-Some bitcoins
-An up to date computer
-MySQL server which you can set up w/ your hosting provider

How to Create the Actual Faucet

This video does a great job of explaining how to create your own Faucet with the preceding requirements. You also have to register for faucetbox which is where all your bitcoins are sent initially, then once you reach a certain threshold, they are released to your Blockchain.info wallet:

At this point, if you followed the tutorial correctly, you should have a functional Bitcoin faucet that gives anyone who enters their wallet address a small amount of satoshis, It's recommended that you add some security measures to your website, as bots & spammers are frequent amongst the bitcoin harvesting community.

Now, choose your captcha system, create an account, and you're on your way.

If done right, yours should look similar to mine:

The advertisements that I have on the sides of the page are additional advertisements added through [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] - You can always use AdSense or some sort of other advertising platform if you wanted to as well if you're more familiar with them, but they work the same way just using different algorithms to calculate your CPC rates and stuff like that.

Bitcoin & bitcoin faucets are an important factor to look at when it comes to economic standpoint. I hope this made you more knowledgable about the monetization possibilities that Bitcoin can offer, and I hopefully look forward to making some revenue with the fellow members of TTG

Nothing significant. There are so many Bitcoin faucets that the entire concept is saturated. You can make them extremely quick and easy so a lot of people have made them. There won't be much traffic to a new site.

Like with any new site it depends entirely on your ability to direct traffic to that site. It's not guaranteed to make a ton of money, but it's also definitely not a saturated concept. There's no fixed income per hour for this but it's a strategy that if utilized correctly could make a considerable amount of people a reasonable amount of income **with limits of course

I'd be careful with that. He's been hyping that up for a couple months now and has really pushed for media outtake within recent weeks which means he's probably treating BTC like a commodity and hyping it up so it goes up in value. Sort of like a pump and dump for BTC lol meaning he's banking off of people's speculation right now.
