ever since iv'e gotten this card from a friend iv'e been having a problem specifically in smite where ill be running the game perfectly fine, and then out of nowhere, the screen turns a solid grey color.
i cant alt tab, windows key, ctrl alt del out at all. the only thing i can do is shut off my pc via the power button.
recently that specific event hasn't been happening to me, but instead, again my game will be running fine, and out of nowhere, it starts to lag, TREMENDOUSLY, picture in you're head dropping from 300 to 10 fps in an instant. then it gets to the point where the screen completely freezes and the sound goes from in game normal sound to a loud buzzing noise.
i just figured out this is not a smite problem bc it happened to me in csgo. if you read this far props to you, and +rep to anyone that can help
edit-- ik its the gpu bc ive had the same build before i got the 980 and this didnt happen to me when i had my 750ti
what iv'e tried already----
reinstalling the game
updating windows
updating driver software

You say you got it from a friend? Could be a faulty GPU all together? Thats why he sold it? Could you try it in another computer? Or change your HDMI/DVI Cable and use another one? If you still have your 750 ti try using that to make sure it isnt a faulty PCI-E Slot. More than likely the GPU.
