I'm a freshmen in college and I just paid $250 for books from my school bookstore and was wondering if I could've gotten it cheaper from online and if that's a lot to spend on for college textbooks for one semester

Yeah they're always cheaper online and $250 is nothing. That was the cost of ONE of my books last semester. I usually try and get an ebook or pdf version from places and print it out.

Try amazon or see if you can get used books instead of break new ones. It sucks that the books cost so much much it is worth is down the road

ThriftBooks.com

Excellent site for books, would recommend for future, very cheap but 2nd hand, good condition. Used them for my college books, cant believe you actually paid that much for books. Crazy.
