I just returned my GTX 970 for £280.
I use a 1080p 120hz monitor.
Do I buy a 1060 for no more than £280?
or
Put more money towards a 1070 for future proofing? (1070's are currently sat a £420 for a decent one)
Need some advice!

I'd go for a 1060.

Just down to what you have planned for your PC.
If you are gonna stick with 1080p, then get the 1060.
If you plan to go 1440p/4k, then the 1070.

Since you have a 120hz monitor, I would recommend the 1070.
The 1060 isn't powerful enough to get 1080p 120hz.

I went for the 1060 and with the saved money bought some 'necessities'... another 250gb ssd and k70 keyboard (i was still rocking a membrane one)... lol
Could have got the 1070 but still needed the ssd as i have no space left- was slightly conscious of spending too much- plus i am playing 1080p so you guys were right.. 1060 more than adequate.
Thanks for the help though people, appreciate it!

The GTX 1070 is obviously better than the GTX 1060. It all depends on the rest of your specs, your uses, your budget. GTX 1060 is more than enough to play 1080p above 60FPS for the most part.
