Can someone please explain the perks and general idea of 'Rooting' to me?
Is it worth it?

Rooting basically gives YOU full control over your device.
root has its perks
risks

dev apps
toolboxs (performace, you can OC, UC, change governers, ETC)
apps that your phone usually couldn't support
swap ROMs
flash custom recoveries etc
generally rooting just gives you full access, with a su app.
you can delete that bloatware, but do keep in mind YOU HAVE to watch out what you download, a lot of stuff can your phone up badly sometimes.
