I'm 17, turning 18 in November and now I'm planning on getting a car. I live in the UK so the only reason I've been trying to hold off is because the insurance is stupid. Not only that, I don't wanna be black boxed so I'm seeking advice from you guys.

What cheap car should I invest in that can have cheap insurance without a black box.
The car I currently have in mind is the Vauxhall Corsa C - Twinport

I would recommend:
- Renault Clio (Around 2002)
- VW Polo
- Vauxhall Corsa (2007)
- Vauxhall Corsa C Twinport
- Mini Cooper

These are the cars that I and my friends drive, they are decent on insurance ranging around £1200, will vary on different factors. I drive a Mini Cooper and pay £1200 with a black box, same with the Corsa C, he also has a black box. I would recommend looking at a bunch of hatchbacks and go on Gocompare and find some prices. Also before you settle on a car, look at some of the known issues so that you know what you might need to fix.

Don't just take my word, ask around some friends and family that have recently got their first car. They will be able to help.

As much as we all don't want to be black boxed, it's becoming impossible to avoid. I'm having the same issue. All you have to do is look around for a policy that won't fine you, give you penalties or curfews and you should be fine. Some policies just reward you for good driving.
