I have recently realized that I have a very strong hatred towards this company. If you don't know, they focus on many textbooks and the majority of college textbooks happen to be form them. This I have no issues with. Text books take a long time to make and I understand this, however, I do have a problem with their connect codes.
Connect codes are uses for homework for classes. These codes are from the company, provide an online version of the textbook, and provide homework problems for the student. Most of the time these problems are graded right then and there, and then sent to the professor. My issue with these is that the average code to do the required homework just happens to be around $75 per class. Two of my classes this semester were $160 per code. So in total for me to be able to even do my homework for my classes, two of which these cods add up to over 40% of my overall grade, I'm required to pay almost two hundred dollars to this company which has further monetized, and monopolized the education industry.
I understand that these problems do take some time to complete, however, either professors need to not make them mandatory for classes, or they need to drop the price. These are usually the same problems in textbooks, and that should not be that high on the charges I already have on me without financial aid. I'm already considered a dependent until I'm 24 years old even though I have lived on my own for almost 2 years, and one parent is in another state, while the other is half way around the world.
Thanks once again for the American education system, and for another company to further profit on already struggling students.

This is how college is going to be. Books are expensive because they know you need them, therefore you will buy them.
The online codes can be purchased through their site at the time of signing up for 40-50$ instead of the overpiced codes you buy online.
For example. I had an accounting class that required a 350$ that came with online access to pearson MyAccountingLab. This code could have been bought online for 60$ or 120$ with the code for the online book.
This is actually really cheap compared to what a normal college book will run you. There really isn;t a point to complaining or pointing it out, because it isn;t going away anytime soon.
Use websites like RateMyProfessor to find professors that provide notes/pdfs of the books.

I don't know why a virtual book is so expensive. Books are expensive because of the effort put into making one but really? A virtual book? Being myself I'll find a way to get around it next year in college or I'll be f*cked by finances

In the UK it's so different when reading this, the cost is a lot and not cheap at all. Virtual book's sounds to extreme but ti's whatever really.
