I bought my rifle with a 30 rd mag. I haven't done anything bad with it. It's not the tool, it's the operator.

I support gun ownership, and I do own guns.

I don't remember caring or asking for your opinion, I'm more than happy going to university everyday without having to worry that someone is going to take in a gun and shoot the place up.

There is the tiniest chance that your situation would ever occur and more importantly, it wouldn't because I'm not hated and nobody wants to kill me.

But I'm just going to allow guns into my country so that... criminals can now have guns legally and I have to be scared everywhere I go because guns are so easily accessible that gun massacres are almost guaranteed.

Why would I want to change my country which hasn't had a killing massacre since 1996 so that I can have one every week?

Don't call my logic stupid when you just supported the almost guaranteed massacres of children in schools, I'll state my opinion when asked and I don't intend to hear your bigoted views back.

Never mind the fact that my country has over 5x the amount of people spanned across 3,711,942 more square miles than yours. Yeah, sorry for me just assuming that there are going to be issues when having this many people. By the numbers, for every 1 person you meet, I meet 5. A group of two is bound to have a lot less issues than a group of 6, right?

Also if you want to go by safety, the UK had 537 murders in 2014 which comes out to 1 murder per 111,867 people. The US 14,249 murders in 2014 which comes out to 1 murder per 22,380 people. Is this a lot higher? Yes it is however, the US has 5x the amount (4.998% if you want to be exact) the amount of murders the UK does, despite the US being 5.05% bigger in population. This means that per murder rate, the US is safer by 0.52%. I could also break it down into murder by square mile, but I don't think that's needed as you know the US has over 40x the land the UK does.

Also you say "Why would I want to change my country which hasn't had a killing massacre since 1996". Uhm, let's do a quick Google search. 52 killed in a bombing in London in 2005, 12 killed in a murder suicide in Cumbria by Derrick Bird in 2010 and 3 killed in a murder suicide in Spalding by Lance Hart in 2016. Sure it's far less than the US, but still, we need some research done (or sentences worded properly as I already know what you're going to say) before we make a post.

Furthermore, I'd like to forward you to THIS THREAD so that you can understnad the guns aren't the issue, it's the people.

I definitely support ownership. I am currently looking at different guns to buy my first. I love shooting. Unfortunately in California the gun laws are really strict and its a real pain to get one. I also wish we had open carry here. Its really hard to get a concealed weapons permit unless you're ex military or a policeman/ security guard. Also theres so many guns that I want that are banned here

More people that legally own firearms use them for safety than crimes. If someone carries a gun at your school, they're doing it with the intent to stop any attack that may occur at any given time. So if someone does come in and start shooting, the threat can be fought off quickly. It's got to be pretty crappy being defenseless sheep, eh?

I've already seen this before & Piers Morgan won easily & I'm saying this as a person who can't stand him. I briefly watched Alex Jones a couple years ago until I noticed he was an absolute idiot. Jones shouted over Morgan throughout most of the video, came off as a nutjob as he always does. You know you've lost the argument when you start talking about fighting the person you disagree with. Piers Morgan might be an idiot but compared to Alex Jones he's looks like Richard Dawkins & Stephen Hawking.

Yet Alex came out with all the facts and all Piers could do is come up with the same terrible questions all anti-gun people do. Is Alex an "idiot" (rather make idiotic statements)? Sure, but I guess that's up to listeners to decide. Is he right about what he's speaking about in this clip? Yes. Just because you're an idiot doesn't mean you can't be right.

I respect your opinion but I just tend not to argue with Americans when it comes to guns, live in different worlds regarding them so neither your view or mine is ever likely going to change.

If you have a spare 18 minutes you should watch this video. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Imo this guy is the smartest person I've come across on Youtube on most topics he speaks about. He doesn't call for bans, he calls for regulations and the points he makes to back it up aren't questionable imo. If you don't watch the video he's a self pro-claimed moderate regarding guns so I've not linked you to someone who's anti-gun. He gets his points across intelligently, backs it up with statistics and doesn't ramble on like a nutjob conspiracy theorist like Jones.

Well u see, the guns aren't the problem, the problem is the people, there needs to be a bigger and more in depth background checks for everyone that buy a gun.

I'm a strong supporter of guns in the hands of the right people! Not physco paths. I Legally own a semi automatic ar-15 rifle, mossberg 500 shotgun, 40 cal glock 27, smith and Wesson .357 magnum, and a few more.. Guns aren't toys but I believe responsible owners should be allowed to be armed. One day all gun rights will be gone with all the terrorist attacks, Etc going on, so better stock up now

Pretty ignorant if im being honest. I guess you dont understand something.

Say im a criminal, and I want to shoot up a school, but wait the door says no weapons, am I going to follow rules? No because im a criminal.

And that doesn't work in Scotland because get this, not even the people who want to shoot up a school have guns. So nobody has shot up a school since 1996.

There is nothing ignorant about it, giving people guns will create school shootings. If you deny that then you can't even call me the ignorant one.

What maths did you just do because that made zero **** sense?

64,000,000 / 537 = 1 in 119,180 murdered in the UK last year.

318,000,000 / 14,249 = 1 in 22317 murdered in the US last year.

How did you take a 5x murder rate and turn that into a safer country?

That calculation takes population into account.

Do you not understand how ratios work or something?

The US is not safer than the UK in anyway...

I'm puzzled how you came to that conclusion.

And by my country, I meant Scotland. The UK is not a country, it's a sovereign state (a collection of countries ruled under 1 goverment). Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland are countries. I would say the UK if I meant the UK.

And even taking into account the UK, we still haven't had a school massacre since 1996 when we banned guns.

The London attacks was a bomb and those 2 mass shootings accounted for 16 deaths over an 18 year period. More people have died in the last week by guns in America.

And I read it and replied as you can see a few pages in, it made zero difference to my opinion. I gave what I though was an extremely good example as to why they don't help in limiting deaths.

If I'm having a conversation on the street and you listen in, does that mean I asked for your opinion as well? I answered a question, I don't really care or particularly want to reply to your opinion but if you insist on my time.

Your example can be cancelled out by the fact shooter can't get a gun in Scotland because we have very strict laws. Only high up criminals can get their hands on one, not your average mentally handicapped school shooter. So now there is no need for someone to have a gun to stop them because they don't have one to begin with.

Why would I change that point so that now I do need people to have guns to stop people with guns?

That just creates the opportunity for mass shootings.

You can not change my mind on that point when it is so obvious to anyone with a brain which option is safer.
