This is a story of one certain man. A loyal man.
May 2004
Signed for Doncaster Rovers for no more than £30,000. Previous to this, he was at Newcastle United and Exeter City. Played one game as a substitute under Bobby Robson's Newcastle United.
Winter 2005
Was involved in the squad that took Rovers to the quarter final of the Carling Cup. Along the way, beating the Aston Villa and Manchester City. Scored a penalty in the penalty shootout against City. May I add, this was a third tier team beating top tier teams.
The quarter final comes. His team loses to Arsenal on penalties after a late late late equaliser in the 120th min. Heart break... But not for long...
2007/08 Season
He was ever present in the squad since his arrival But this season... Was his...
Play Off semi finals. Southend United. 1st leg draw 0-0.
2nd leg.
2-0 up. He comes. Takes it past not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but 5 players. A tricky guy to deal with. Pokes it into the far corner. MAKES IT 3!
3-0 up. Again, not past 1, not 2, not 3... You get the picture he took on 5 players from wide near his own half. He cuts into the middle and bangs it into the net! Sending his team into certainty of the final! Making it 4-0.
4-0 up. He has the ball, looks to take on a player on the edge of the box. Tripped up. Free kick. He was standing over it with a team mate. Passes to his team mate who then controls it. He hits it... Looping... Dipping... GOAL INTO THE FAR CORNER! 5 NIL!! The best hat trick known to Doncaster Rovers. Exquisite!
2013/14 Seaon
Still ever present in the squad, racking up goals and assists for his team mates. But this season, along with the 2007/08 is one of his best. Helping Doncaster Rovers secure the title to the Championship. Sounds dull, right? Well... It was far from... 90th min... Rover 0-0 away at Brentford. All they needed to do was avoid defeat. Unlikely. Brentford has a last minute penalty for handball. Gutting. But this man had other ideas...
Trotta takes... BAR!!! Scramble in the box, CLEARED! Billy Paynter breaks free! 1 on 1 with the keeper... PASSES IT TO THE MAN AND TAPS IT INTO THE BACK OF THE NET!! Rovers are CHAMPIONS!! Ecstasy!

Yet again another BIIIIIIG year. He's been ever present in the squad for the past 12 years. Morecambe away. We win 5-1. Good game? OHHHH YES! It is his 500th game for the club! WHAT A DAY!! Doesn't stop there! To top it off he got himself an assist... Brilliant! Ohhhhh no, he wants more, and got more!! He makes it 5-1 in the 95th minute!!! A day of 5's!
