The ram you've chosen is not great, I'd recommend this [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
2x4GB is better than 1x8 GB + its 1866 MHz rather than 1600.

EDIT: It may be worth getting a better CPU cooler as stock intel ones arn't great

RAM speed makes minimal difference. There's no need to spend extra money for slightly faster RAM. There is nothing wrong with the RAM kit he chose. The actual issue with the RAM, is that it's DDR3L, which is a no no for Skylake. Skylake should be run with DDR4. DDR3 RAM is not compatible with Skylake. Skylake is made for DDR4, which runs at 1.2V. Granted, there are Skylake compatible motherboards that support DDR3L, which runs at 1.35V, however, running DDR3(L) on Skylake can do damage to the IMC over time, and just isn't advised. It's also shooting yourself in the foot for future upgrades. The RAM you suggested, isn't even DDR3L, it's standard DDR3 so runs at 1.5V, which is even worse for the IMC, so it would be a very bad purchase. As for, 2x4GB being better, it's not. Single channel vs dual channel makes minimal difference, unless an iGPU is being used. 4GB DIMMs don't make sense anymore IMO, as RAM has come down in price drastically in the last year or so. The smallest capacity RAM I'd get, is 1x8GB since that leaves room to add a 2nd 8GB DIMM, and still have the potential to add more in the future, easily. The only time 2x4GB faster RAM over 1x8GB slower kit is going to be beneficial, is if a discrete HPU is not being used, which is not the case here,

OP- The motherboard here is more expensive than the one I suggested on your last thread, and worse. The PSU doesn't have a listed price, but it's a bad choice anyway. The case is over-priced. The SSD is terrible

answering your question to what happened to the first thread, i decided that i have more money to spend and also i want a i5 processor over anything right now because I'm thinking for the future.

also I'm looking to purchase all the parts today, so you think i should go for the motherboard you suggested as well as a ddr4 ram and id be done?

help me finalize this PC please !

First of all, an i5 is not necessarily more "future proof" than an i3. The i3 is perfectly fine, and you shouldn't just buy an i5 because you "want" to, especially when you don't know how it will benefit you.

No, don't just go with a different motherboard and RAM, change the other stuff that I've already told you is bad.

Also, if you just wanted to spend a bit more, and wanted an i5, all you had to do was get what I suggested, with an i5 instead. Not hard.

That looks perfect now I appreciate your help very much, one final question, I have the MSI gtx 970 4gb gpu already, would that be compatible instead of having to buy a whole new gpu? Thanks !

GTX 1060 would be much more logical. If you could return the GTX 970 and get a 1060 instead, it would be a good idea. However, the GTX 970 is fine.

My GTX 970 is still doing great but if I could swap it for the equivalent GTX 1060 right now, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
