My laptop recently decided it wanted to give up working took it to a shop and they said it wouldn't be worth fixing. And I don't know much about computer specs and things myself. I was just wondering what would the best laptop/desktop be for under £250. i know it's not a lot but I need a computer and it's all I have to spare at the moment. Well thanks guys in advance.

Also I'm in the UK if that matters.

Honestly mate you'll find nothing even half decent for something in that price range.

If you actually want a decent desktop I'd search for a second hand one over ebay in your local area. Save you a couple of hundred £

I'm not looking for anything too powerful only basic web browsing, YouTube. The most I'll be doing is playing runescape and my 10 year old laptop could do that

If you change the filter to auction and look in your local area. Trust me you'll actually find a decent one. I remember around 3 years ago i bought one for £200 Had:

8GB Ram
1TB SDD
Intel QuadCore Processor
ETC

The PC did me good too!

I would highly recommend getting this;
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] / [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

CPU: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£59.19 @ BT Shop)
Motherboard: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£47.72 @ More Computers)
Memory: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£25.99 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£56.99 @ Amazon UK)
Case: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£25.98 @ Ebuyer)
Power Supply: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£36.88 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £252.75

It will handle what you want it to, and can be easily upgraded at any point if you get some extra cash and feel like upgrading. You can easily add a dedicated GPU at any point. You can easily add another 8GB RAM for 16GB total, but 8GB is plenty. You can easily swap the Pentium out for an i3, i5, or i7 Skylake CPU. Re-use any old HDD(s) you have. You should be able to salvage the one from your laptop, plus the 240GB SSD and you'll be fine for a while. Use the SSD for your OS and other things youd like to load faster, then whatever other storage you have for everything else.

Also apart from keyboard, mouse and screen. Would it need anything else like a fan? Or is that everything you would need for the tower?

The case will come with an included fan so you don't really need to buy any case fans. You can add some more at a later date though.
