It's so stupid. It's literally nothing.
People are only going out like that to troll people, and **** with people. They think it's funny or something. So the more people talk about it, the more people will go and do it. It's not even a big deal, so if everyone shuts up about it then people will stop doing it.
Dumbasses that immediately start fighting them for absolutely no reason are the ones making it violent.

my school checked everyone in the school and we cant go outside for gym. All parents got a letter from the school

I think it started as a "flash mob" type of event for people but unfortunately it is gaining popularity with high school and college students who take it too far and are getting hurt and close to being killed for 15 seconds of fame.
