Hey, ok so me and a friend are running a YouTube channel together and therefore both need access to all footage we shoot. ( I need the footage he has and he needs the footage I have to cut a long story short basically. ) we don't live extremely close to one another so was looking for an online alternative we can both use where we have one large hard drive where we can share files rather than driving to each others house and manually collecting footage from an SD card each time we need something. I have looked online but most sites you have to pay and can only use a certain amount of data a month (we would exceed the limit as we are shooting in very high quality with a DSLR) We don't really wanna spend money on it but was just hoping someone on the forum who might know abit more about this stuff than us could give us further insight and show us our options. Thank you

Compress the files with something like Handbrake (for videos) then use an ftp server and put files there, then you can both access it and it will be quicker than Download sites!! Free FTP hosting: thetechgame.org

Dropbox in my opinion is definitely the best thing you could use, you can share files with people and you can give them access to be able to edit the files or not.

You have to be careful when compressing video. If you are not familiar with all the output and format settings you might kill the quality of your video. Do a quick test with a 30 sec. clip and see if the smaller file size effects your video quality or not.

set up an FTP server or create a dropbox/google drive account and store files there. Keep it in a common place to make collaboration easier. Google drive has 15gb of free storage with the ability to purchase additional storage.
