Goes only $1 over your budget but it's somewhat better than your current cpu.

He wants an upgrade - going from 3.7 to 3.8 isn't really much of an upgrade in my opinion.

That's not compatible with his motherboard. He'd also need a new motherboard.

OP- There is no logical CPU upgrade for you for $150.

Your most logical upgrade is an upgrade to Skylake, which even for an i3 would cost you $180-$200 since you'd need a new motherboard and RAM. You could maybe find a used Haswell i3/i5 for a decent price and an old Haswell mobo for $150, but I'd recommend saving a little more and upgrading to Skylake/Kaby Lake, or waiting for Zen.

However, you could get another HDD and/or SSD with that $150. Or you can save up a bit more and get a logical CPU and mobo upgrade later in the year. Black Friday and Christmas is coming.

Yea, that's why I figured I'd start looking now. See what to keep an eye on price wise.

To hold off until then, I'm probably just going to get a better CPU fan. That might help get me some extra frames I'd hope. All I have is the stock one and that shit is always roaring. What would recommend for a fan?
