I was just wondering what other people do with their PC when they are going to go to sleep or leave their home.
I turn my computer off every night before I go to sleep. But if I were to go out with friends for a couple of hours and my computer was already on, then I just leave it on.

I am asking mostly because I am not sure if turning it off every night is good for the life span of the computer.

Personally, if i'm heading out and I know it's going to take hours, I just shut it off. If i'm going somewhere and I know it'll be quick I just put it to sleep until I get back

It depends, if I go to sleep I'll turn my PC off. If I'm doing things around the house I'll just leave it on and it'll go to sleep by itself.

There's a big debate about this and a lot of conclusions I have seen simply say it doesn't matter, you only save a tiny bit on your electric bill that would be your biggest concern. Your pc will be fine.

If you want it to boot up quicker just put it too sleep.
If you have a fast pc with an ssd you can just turn it off, as it will boot quick anyways.

I usually just turn it off anyway regardless of how quick I'll be. Saving electricity and hardware life

I always power down fully. It hardly takes time for my pc to boot.

For a older rig, i let them sleep, takes less time to wake.
