Anything else I might need to know?
Thanks in advance,
Dan
- What are the best UK based web hosters? (I cannot get a static IP otherwise I'd host myself)
Anything i need to know about GoDaddy- I've found a cheap domain I like on there.
Planning on using WordPress as I lack the expertise to go it alone- any tips or recommendations other than WordPress?
Difference between web hosting and WordPress hosting?
Anything else I might need to know?
Thanks in advance,
Dan

When it comes to (free) web hosting I really like Hostinger. Service is fast, near 100% uptime. I don't have much expertise in paid hosters. I imagine a paid Hostinger account could be pretty good. PKR hosting also another good web hoster. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (He can also be added on steam for additional help )
Godaddy as a domain provider is perfectly fine. The choice of provider doesn't really matter, some companies may be cheaper than others
Wordpress is good for what it offers but some people simply don't like the idea or functionality of it all, me being one. Wordpress has pre-built templates that you can use, as you said you lack some expertise this may come in handy depending on what level you are at. Not everything in Wordpress is button and lever, you may need to edit code along the way to make things work the way you want.
tldr; Wordpress is ok. Personally, I would build it from scratch, bearing in mind you can use things like Bootstrap for layout "templates"
Wordpress hosting is more tailored towards wordpress firmware sites (1 click installs, free premium templates, that sort of thing). Web hosting is you generic bread and butter, the efficiency and performance will vary depending on the plan you buy.
Overall, it really depends on what you want to build and have in mind. A social media for example would benefit more from a general web hosting provider and a firmware such as Laravel (cough...cough. pretty good!). And of course the complexity of the project will vary depending on what you want. I felt like I may have repeated myself a couple of time in that but I hope it helps!

Thanks for the detailed reply, I will be sure to look into those hosters and Laravel! I had no idea you could get free hosting... but whats the catch??
Im thinking of using wordpress for the ease and simplicity, I have no exp in coding at all. Hopefully it will work for my needs and look somewhat professional.
Much appreciated, im sure I will post here if I make any progress.

As hostinger goes, there is no catch. Free hosting forever. The only limitations are what they state, which is obviously bandwidth, diskspace, amount of DBs you can have.
That is, basically, what happens when you pay more, you get more for it.
