The earliest I can remember of console modding would be 2005 when I saw some modded PS2's where you could burn games and play them. I also remember Nintendo DS having R4's loaded with many games.
Though as these progressions come, software developers learn how to patch them, and tighten their security, so exploits used to jailbreak can be difficult to find as why the PS4/Xbox One hasn't been fully modded yet.

5FDP_Jekyll wrote Honestly, I don't want to see mods on Xbox anymore, sure I like them a while ago on 360, but now I absolutely don't, well besides ones that add to the game like Fallout/Skyrim/FS. As for CoD, no, I hope they don't come back. Plus I would doubt it'll be as widespread with how strict Xbox is on the Xbox One. Can't even swear at someone without getting suspended anymore.
Looool, the last bit made me laugh. I've been banned for talking shit to my friend. Like we were joking around. I don't know why they've become so strict lmao.

Even if it's a simple swear word that is used in everyday life.

yeah man I agree with you, I use to be a little kid in a sweet shop every time I witnessed mods, now it just spoils the purpose of the game..

Ps4 has already been exploited and progress is being made big time right now. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Im not 1000% sure but i know TheTechGame was a big reason why jtags really hit the map, and that was MW2 era. They probably were floating around before that!
Xbox1 is being worked on by a few but security is apparently the issue there!
