I'm willing to bet a lot of money they aren't making vaccines there, that is what the CDC is for. Area 51 is used for classified weapons testing and development.

But hey, maybe aliens exist. We will never know...

However to sum it up (or at least what i believe) is that Area 51 is just another military base and the reason why its attracted so many people is that people just want something to believe in.
