My mum's keys won't unlock her car! Does anyone have any idea on why? It doesn't use a button just a key straight in the door, will rep

Key might have lost it's curvature, lock could be blocked, key could be dull etc

What kind of car? I know on my uncles BMW if the battery is dead and the car is locked, the car will not unlock with the key.

Does the cylinder spin like it should when the key is in, or is it stationary? If it spins, that tells me the connecting rods inside the door aren't connected, but if it's stationary then it's either like my uncles car and the battery is dead, the key is worn down, or you're using the wrong key. I'm sure you've tried, but flip the key around. My moms Aerostar will only go in 1 way because the key is worn down.

Try using the key the other way, I know with my car my key won't unlock the doors but if I use it on the hatch all doors unlock.

Whilst on this topic, I'll show you my keys.

On the left is the original manufacturers key, it's sort of rounded and won't unlock the doors but will crank the car over, the key on the right has been re-cut, as you can see it's got deeper grooves than the one on the left.

I can't really suggest anything other than whats been said. I guess I could suggest that your car may have been victim of the thief trying to gain access to the car by shoving a screwdriver or something in the lock. Check the lock for any damage. Shit is sketchy man.

Try the passenger door, if it doesnt unlock sounds like key has lots of wear and the cylinder wont read or activate the key, if it does unlock some asshat tries breaking in and ruined the cylinder on the drivers side in the process
