It depends to be honest because reviews are a lot about personal opinion and you could like completely different things to the person writing the review.
I tend to know what games i want so reviews do not usually bother me.

Not completely no. However before I buy something that's more than £30 or so I always read reviews and try to do my research. Many times it's saved me from a disaster
I do the same with games, I take a look at a few reviews and some gameplay and if it looks good to me then boom I buy the game

Wouldnt reviews from friends be word of mouth? I have friends on steam that review games and if they recommend a game I will usually pick it up, if they dont recommend I usually tend to stay away.
Anyway, it depends on how much the game is and weather or not its been advertised heavily. Triple A games I usually tend to do alot of "research" before making a purchase, especially on PC since weve been seeing a bad string of POORLY optimized games. I dont want to waste my money on a game that wont even run soo yeah I guess I do take reviews serious.. when it comes to triple A games. In general I tend to stay away from top tier review pages like IGN and listen to the community more.
Now if im browsing steam and see a game for 5 bucks and the reviews are mixed then I will take what both sides of reviews have to say and base my purchase off of videos.

Most of the game reviews are just trolling anyways.
Reviews do matter for me for other things like pc parts, monitors etc.
