Spark plugs usually come pre-gapped if they are for your exact engine that is, otherwise you would need to adjust them with a feeler gauge.

As 002 said, it is preferred to have a torque wrench but as long as they are not too tight or too loose, they're fine. Over tightening could lead to your spark plug being thread locked and metal shavings going into the cylinder, but I mean it's pretty hard to cause that to be honest.

But yes, I don't see why you can't do spark plugs yourself, it's worth a shot.

As for the transmission fluid, that's a little more difficult.

Too loose and the spark plug will shoot out of your engine, stripping the threads and now you got real problems lol. I had that happen on my old F-350.

I had the transmission fluid checked and I was told it was still good but definitely needed to change my spark plugs. I don't wanna break the plugs in there so I may have to go to the shop. Firestone will do it in my area for 200$, lower than the dealership.

No problem, dealerships are always going to be more expensive than a chain shop or a private shop because instead of general mechanics working on your car, you have techs working on your car which in some cases double the labor rate lol.

Changing spark plugs is an easy enough procedure. If you don't feel confident enough in doing so yourself. I'd recommend searching for a tutorial on your year and model of car. Again with transmission fluid, it's easy enough once you know what you're doing. There's likely multiple tutorials on youtube to help you out.

Spark plugs can be done on your own as long as you dont own a Subaru haha

If you've never had a Transmission fluid exchange in your car and it's at 175k then you should just leave the current fluid in. That could be the only thing holding your transmission together. Don't go off the color or smell of the transmission fluid. If you're noticing a grinding of the gears or a delay/jerking when accelerating from a stop + are over the manufacturer recommended mileage for getting the exchange done, then i'd say you need it.
