For starters my build:

So i'm looking at the Corsair Dominator Platinum Ram but have no idea what version / clock speed i should go for any ideas? Also make sure it's a amazon link.

Your system is not compatible with DDR4. Just hold on to whatever RAM you already have, no need to buy more IMO. If you have 8GB RAM, that's fine, you can add another 8GB if you want, but 16GB RAM would be plenty.

Yeah i currently have 8 GB of ram. Would it be my motherboard that's holding me back from DDR4 then. Also is 16gb really needed?

Your CPU and motherboard are not compatible with DDR4. If you already have 8GB RAM, there's no reason to buy any more RAM. No, 16GB RAM is not necessary, 8GB is fine.
