Well saying she lays on your shoulder and such, most women won't do that unless, you know, that like you or something. Don't be nervous on asking, but however, I understand how it feels being a shy one (I was shy when I asked my girlfriend out) , but in the end it all works out.

I think if it's lasted this long without dating, she's comfortable with the relationship and might want it to stay that way. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Let me give you a personal example. For ease of conversation, let's call her my girlfriend, but understand we're not dating. Anyway, I met her in the 7th grade, now we're both graduated and everything is great. We've spent a lot of time together from then until now and done everything a dating couple does. We've went out on multiple dates, go out camping for the weekend together, etc. We are pretty much dating, but we just won't admit it to ourselves lol. The catch to that though, and I've had this talk with her before, is we're not dating even though we act like it. This means we can see someone else and keep our relationship. From the 7th grade until now, neither of us have dated anyone else.

I'd just keep your current relationship and turn it into dating without actually dating if that makes sense. I know it's a weird concept but it's great. It COMPLETELY eliminates the stress of is she being loyal and all that. You spend less time worrying and more time getting to know the other person. In my opinion it's great.

Just go for it man. Gotta risk it for the biscuit! But don't buy her a ring!
