Try MyPolicy if you don't care about having a blackbox installed. It's going to be expensive. My first year was 1400 on a 1.6 Mini cooper

002 wrote There are so many factors that go into it. You and your buddy might get the exact same car, same year, engine, trim level, have the same driving record and be the same age, but if you live in different parts of the area, your rates will be different. With that said, so much goes into the prices. Color of the vehicle, size of the engine, trim level, auto or standard, 2 door or 4 door, rwd, fwd, awd, or 4x4, sedan, coupe, or hatchback, does it have aftermarket wheels, any permanent modifications, is it financed or owned, etc. etc. Then we start looking into you. What is your age, where do you live, what is your income, what is your race, do you have bad credit, etc. etc.

That of course doesn't matter until you decide how much coverage you want. Just call companies and get quotes.

This was quite helpful thanks =)

ELACTIX wrote I couldnt get insurance under 10k pounds when i was looking and still even now when im 18 i still cant find it for under 10k... i see quotes on comparethemarket at 40k gbp its madness!

I don't think it would be that much, the most it can possibly be quoted for what I'm starting with also factoring in where I live would be maxing out around £3500 give or take

I don't mind having a black box installed and thats a reasonable price for a 1.6, my only concern is that I have been told when you come into an area with a lower speed limit, if you are 1 MPH over it will affect it apparently

With MyPolicy they will notify you if you broken the rules. I have done 20 over a the limit a few times and have not received a warning from them. Just don't drive like an idiot and you'll be fine. MyPolicy track:
Smoothness: This score is made up from breaking and acceleration.
Speed: How fast you are going, depending on the speed limit.
Usage: When you use your car, I ignore the section because I drove to school at 8:00 in the morning and left a 4:00 PM. They know I am a student, but I still receive a 3/10, I now work at the school and this score is still low. My friend has the same issue with his insurer, he has terrible usage scores as well. Don't let this put you off it though.

I am on my second year now with them, I was quoted around £7**, can't remember the figure, but it was bumped up a bit because I changed my occupation from student to apprentice, and it went up slightly due to paying in monthly installments.

That's crazy, I don't live in the best area either so I was happy with my quote. What car did you use for the quote?

Honestly man unless you are getting discounts from the insurance company it's gunna be really expensive for car insurance on any car. Since your 17 man they assume your a high risk driver.

17 yo, modified car, 1.4L. If you are going to be the main driver on the car you will be paying 3-6k for insurance with no black box. With a black box you will be paying 2-4 mainly because it will be getting modified otherwise it will be 1-2k.

I'm in northern ireland and we have different comapines obviously so i dont know who yo should goto.

Just letting you know its pointless to modify your first car, especially a corsa. (I also have a corsa)

Edit: I have a 1.2L Corsa C 2005 and it was 1300 for my insurance with no black box at the age of 17. Although i was put as second driver. One of my parents was put as main driver just to get a much cheaper price. You should also do the same if your modifying your car and if you dont want a black box.
