Ok been a long time since i used these forms.

Built a pc about a year ago thanks to the guys on the pc building form my build: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Ok its worked perfect since then, but i recently took a long break from pc gaming (about 3months) and just used it for internet browsing but with no problem

I have some free time right now so i went on today started a game on cs go and where id usualy have like 200 odd fps i had 2-30fps it was unplayable. Then i went onto cod 4 same thing average of 30fps.

I havent tried much troubleshooting but iv tried ur usual restart and safe mode stuff.

And help?

Was thinking it might be a driver update but havnt checked, thanksss

First thing you should do is definitely update your drivers, you can do that [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Though, saying that your FPS should not reduce THAT much just from outdated drivers. Also check that both your CPU & GPU have not been mistakenly under-clocked.

Update drivers and try again. If you're still experiencing issues, keep an eye on load and tempartures while playing games and see if anything looks wrong. Only other thing I can think of is the display cable being hooked up to the mobo instead of GPU so you're using the iGPU instead of the GTX 970.

Have you tried using [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] to completely uninstall any video card drivers? Sometimes just installing drivers can cause issues, so it's best to use DDU to completely remove any found on the system. To do this, download DDU, restart your computer in Safe Mode, and then run DDU. You will be able to completely uninstall the driver from there. Then download your drivers, but when installing, make sure you untick GeForce Experience. I know GeForce Experience has been causing me problems lately, as well as a lot of other people.

Alternatively, there have been some discussions on other threads regarding the fact that a high majority of the GPU's have a power saving mode which can sometimes interfere with low-demanding games. Try going into the Nvidia Control Panel and change the 3D settings for that game to performance in the power management mode.

Hope this helps.

ok so i did what is stated above but with still no improvement, however i have noticed on msi afterburner my gpu usage seems low, playing csgo and cod 4 and stuff and its at like 10% or less usage, to me this seems low anyone know how i can change that???? and if this would cause the low fps?
