It's a real eye opener

I ride a motorbike and have fun only down empty back roads, pull wheelies and go fast but in traffic or on the busy roads you gotta watch out for other drivers, they are ridiculously dumb, just pulling out, not indicating etc I had a van crash into me because he didn't indicate and the second he hit me and scratched up my bike he sped off

Just to add a bit of information, the 348' to slow down from 75 MPH is of a small car. It takes I think almost double that for an average truck, and 2.5x for a full size SUV or diesel pickup. That is also in perfect conditions. How much tread do the tires have? Are they properly inflated? How much brake pad is left? Is your brake fluid good (you should flush it about once ever two years)? Are the tires the right size? What is the temp outside? All this plays a factor.

Also, it generally isn't about how long it takes to slow down because in these texting and driving wrecks, they weren't paying attention to the road anyway. At 75 MPH, you travel 110 feet every second. The average text takes about 5 seconds, so you aren't paying attention to the road while traveling 550 feet.

Very good information. But the texting and driving stats were not included. They are totally different from the response times i posted.

This is definitely a topic of concern.

I've lost two friends from a car incident.

I haven't personally lost anyone to driving incidents, but this morning on my route to work, a car collided with a telephone pole. I am pretty sure they are OK. Be careful around this time of year, it my seem fine but there is a lot of ice on the roads.

Ive lost 3 of my best friends from a combination of distracted driving and speeding. They were in a 2014 F350 Power stroke (not a small car) when it went off the road and hit a tree at 90mph. The truck was split in half killing all of them instantly. I also have a few family members I have lost due to drinking and driving. I can tell from personal experience its NOT HARD to check your speed, put your phone down, call a cab etc. and all of it can make a life or death difference to you and those around you.
