I'm going to tell you right now, if you don't have a stable income, moving to California won't work for you at all, unless you want to move into some ghetto. Most families struggle in California even if combined they are bringing in about 3k-4k a month. I live by myself and my house right now is $2900 a month. A 1 bedroom apartment would have been like $1300-$1500, but I'm not going to spend that for a one bedroom apartment, let alone even settle for an apartment. Yes there are some places that are meant for low-income, but they either are in the ghetto or you're going to be in a queue for them.

I appreciate you telling the truth man Are there any areas surrounding california (within 60miles or so) that are cheaper. Also I'd need to find some sort of apprenticeship or try to get a scholarship

Maybe if you have a good amount of starting money and maybe have a few friends to move with.

Well depends where you want to live. "California" can be any of the counties out here.

Orange County, LA, San Francisco, Santa Cruz or Santa Monica (Santa Monica reminds me of Lost Boys, what a great film.)

All expensive counties. Orange County you could live in say Anaheim or Santa Ana, but again, you'll start getting into some sketchy areas. LA is expensive if you're closer to Hollywood type cities; however LA would probably be the "cheapest" out of the rest. San Francisco I would argue the most expensive out of the rest and Santa Cruz or Santa Monica would fall around Orange County in terms of price.

It depends on where you go in California. Some Northern parts are cheap, but anything on the cost or South of say San Francisco, forget about it. At the point you're in Northern California though, it's not much different from Oregon besides living costs.

I would never in a million years move to California to be brutally honest with you. Some how they are part of America, but have no benefits of being in America.

What do you want to be an apprentice in? If it's carpentry or some sort of construction, there are tons of jobs in Seattle. There is also a lot of stuff going on around the East coast as well.
