Got a few questions;

Do you have a full UK license?
How old are you?

Getting a 1.4Polo worth less than £1500 and getting insured on it at a young age is going to be costly, unless you want a telematics box.

I had a 1.4 Polo twist 85bhp for my first car at 18yrs old (Bought it for £800), insurance was £3500 without telematics box. The insurance is going to be a real killer on any car at this age!

Now 19, I have a Seat Leon FR 150bhp and insurance is £2800 without telematics box

Might be a wise option to have a telematics box unless you can afford to pay otherwise!

Could also put one of your parents as a second driver, this will bring your insurance quote down

The VW costs £535 and I got it checked by someone already (today) the only bad aspect is cosmetic scratches.

I'm 19 in March by the way and I might be able to do the second driver aspect also.

I have a drive attached to my house so it's a rather good thing also.

As I already stated the insurance is £408.43 for the Polo (£500 if added with the extra bonuses, no telematics box)

I just would like to see if there's any other better cars out there that I might prefer more haha.

I'd use it for general commuting also

I couldn't get a quote lower than £2000 with a telematics box for my old 2004 polo! And literally everyone I know my age that are getting insurance quotes are getting similar prices so god knows how you've managed to get £408! What details did you put in?

Highly recommend you change that to comprehensive, I don't need to elaborate on it but seriously you should have comprehensive cover. Especially at our age!

They may class this as a provisional license so just double check you aren't getting a quote for provisional insurance mate

If that's correct your getting a very good deal, on my first car which was a 1.2 06 model Corsa i paid £1300 with a box included

Mine was comprehensive

i cant see you getting a car and insurance for under £1500 i just passed and my insurance alone on a 1.2 is over £1500. if your buying like a £300 car then you might im not sure.

No way is your insurance £400 on a 1.4 with no black box, any first driver without a black box under 20 is most likely going to be £1500 or more, no way is it less than a £1000. especially with a 1.4 damn

Lower the car value the more expensive the insurance is for us young ones. As apparently we are less likely to look after a cheap car!
