Ok but what if I was to get one now? because I can always take that monitor back as I have the receipt etc and I'm allowed to trade it for a gsync one if I wanted to. What would be a good build for my price range with nvidia?

It would depend really on what monitor you'd replace it with. Honestly, I'd stick with your current monitor and wait for Vega. As I said, if you really want to build now, you can build something with an entry level GPU or an RX 480 or something and upgrade to Vega once it releases.
Also, personally, I think G-Sync is a waste of money and it's pretty much guarantee'd to die soon enough. NVidia are going to have to adopt Freesync IMO.

I think after G-Sync HDR, is when it'll die out. A lot of monitors that use G-Sync now are roughly $300+ than a monitor that uses Freesync even if they're around the same refresh rate, same resolution and for the most part being the same as an IPS panel. I know that price point on monitors is more than likely what is killing G-sync so if/once they switch over to Freesync, hopefully manufactures won't gouge the hell out of prices since G-Sync is no longer there.

The only logical way to continue the use of G-Sync without killing it is by NVidia adopting Freesync IMO. That way, people with cheaper Freesync monitors still have an option and they can just market G-Sync as the high end for 1337 gaemurs. G-Sync isn't a viable option for the majority of the market. Whereas, plenty of people are already on the Freesync bandwagon.
