What is the purpose of the rifle? I looked at a few Daniel defense rifles and I did not like them for the price they are. They are a great gun in the $1,250-$1500 range, but that's a stretch in my opinion. Between the two rifles (I have no experience with pistols so I'm just going with rifles here), I would get the Daniel Defense. I just don't like SBRs as they have more muzzle rise and the accuracy isn't all that great. If you want a short rifle, look into bullpups.

I was about to buy a Smith and Wesson M&P 10. I have a couple friends with them and they are damn nice rifles for the price.

I ended up deciding I wanted something shorter so I bought a bullpup. I've owned many AR-15's, and a couple AK-47 style rifles and just never found them as something I completely love. The M&P 10 I fell in love with and I was actually in the process of buying it and this guy walks into the same shop at the same time with a bull pup that I ended up buying off him lol. Some people know of my arsenal, I have sold all my rifles besides my hunting rifle and the one I just bought. That tells you about how much trust I have in the M&P 10. Although I didn't go home with it, that's what I sold everything for.

Information is priceless in the land of firearms. Without knowledge and information, you'll end up with a POS gun like I did when I bought my RAS-47 (AK-47 style gun). Nutnfancy on Youtube makes great videos and goes into depth on everything he tests. Best off, he's not bought. Just look up "nutnfancy Smith and Wesson M&P 10" or what ever gun you're looking at. He loved the M&P 10 as well. He makes long videos and I think this is the first one where he did the short disclaimer at the beginning saying just buy it lol.

GANG GANG, SQUAAAAAD.

Honestly though, that thing looks sick as hell. I'd get this one if I had a choice over the others.

The two rifles you showed are different purpose so do you want a rifle for long distance engagements or close quarters. If you are looking for LDE. The Daniel Defense is what you want. I personally one an MK-12 and it's my best rifle. I sold my christensen arms for it. It's a bit more pricey because it it's worth it. SBR's are good but lack in distance.

Yeah thats where I'm torn. I mostly use my rifle for recreational target shooting. But It'd also be my go-to for home defense. So the MK12 would be better for fun shooting at the sandpits, but the MCX would be better home home defense. I wish I could afford both lol.

If you want something for home defense I would suggest Daniel Defenses Mk-18. It is an SBR and fits your needs. It rocks a basic quad rail with a low profile gas block incase you want to swap barrels or rails down the road or even swap out the rail for a free float SBR.
