This rant is long overdue and i think it's time someone addressed it.
Protesting is part of your first amendment right in this country. You as a citizen have the right to protest.
BUT you do not have the right to destroy property and act like savage animals. Protestors today whether it's when a police officer kills a suspect or someone is elected, are out of control. Instead of protesting peacefully they smash windows and burn vehicles and then people and hard working citizens have to suffer because of it. It's not fair to the people who work hard for their business to just be destroyed by savages. Then the protestors get mad about why police are in riot gear and have military equipment.
I am referencing protests containing mass amounts.
This is an example of what a peaceful protest looks like.
VS
What 90% of protests are now
Since when is this okay?
As a law abiding citizen and every day American, i look at this and it continues the stereotype they are trying so much to break.
Point is, if you want people to understand your cause.
Act like civilized human beings and i could understand and support your cause.
For example, the women's rights march that took place yesterday. It WAS a peaceful protest. THAT is how you gain results.
If you riot and destroy property and assault people, it doesn't make me want to join your cause. It makes me want to load up on hollowpoint ammunition and hope you don't come to my neighborhood..

If what you're saying is true, the entire country would be on fire right now.
More than 3,000,000 people protested just two days ago. If 90% of them were savages destroying shit like you claim, the country would be in absolute chaos right now.
You're trying to take the actions of a couple dozen Black Bloc anarchists and use them to generalize the hundreds of thousands of peaceful protestors at the inauguration to write them all off.
Were you making this argument when the right wingers spent all of 2009 protesting President Obama's election?

You listed what? A dozen and a half incidents of violence? You do realize that there have been tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of protests within the last 10 years?
Black Lives Matter has held over 2,000 protests themselves. You're really going to try to tell me that there has been more violent protests than peaceful protests?
Aren't you the one who tried to write off my arguments as "You got that from CNN", when you're the one only counting the protests that you see on the news. It's not the peaceful protestors fault that the media chooses not to cover them.

So we should shut down protests with hundreds of thousands of people in them if less than two dozen are trying to incite a riot?

So crack down on the people who are trying to incite a riot. You don't generalize the thousands, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of peaceful protestors as being the same as those few bad actors.
It's just a flat out lie to say that the 90% of protests in America are violent. It's a flat out lie to say that even 25% of the protests in America are violent.
