But still always back up the most important stuff like pictures and such, if you already have an OS on your HDD, I'd back up everything important, format both, and then put the OS on the SSD, and the rest of the data back on the HDD just to make it clean

The only thing I really want to keep on the HDD is my Steam game data.

Actually that's a good point, okay leave the HDD alone, install the SSD, and install the OS to the SSD only, and then when you boot your system, if it's set up right, it should give you the option to select an OS, and if they're both the same, they'll be labeled the same, but it's usually the top one that's the newest one, like when I dual booted Linux and used the Windows MBR instead of the Grub manager Linux provides, the Linux OS was on top of the list because it was most recently added, and if you're moderately skilled, you could remove the listing for the HDD copy of Windows, so you wont have to make that selection every time, and it'll boot right into the SSD on startup, and then you can use the file explorer to root through the HDD and find everything you need and put shortcuts to it all on your nice new Windows installation desktop or the task bar, that part is up to you

Also, touch something metal before you touch you HDD, that way you can ground yourself out and you don't have to risk shocking the new SSD with static, just a precautionary thing lol
