Friend has £150 GBP to spend on upgrades, he's looking to play game like CSGO and H1Z1, etc. He is mainly looking to increase his FPS as he gets 50 avg on CSGO. What would you suggest?

He is currently thinking about buying this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Would you say buy something else or do you think this would be fine?

RX 460 is plenty for CSGO. SSD is pretty much a necessity these days. You'll want a CPU upgrade for better performance in H1Z1. Not sure about case and PSU though.

My friend doesn;t really want a SSD, he doesn't personally see a point in them. Do you think he;s better off buying the one i linked in the first place instead? Since he doesn;t want to buy an SSD. Case, he's doesn't care how it looks so no need to really change it.

Case is important because it might not be compatible. It's probably fine, but still. Also aesthetics isn't the only reason for a case upgrade. He's wrong if he doesn't think there is a point in SSD's, because there is. Seagate are shutting down one of their largest HDD assembly plants so it looks like they're probably going to start investing in SSD instead of HDD now. SSD prices have been creeping up so better to buy sooner, rather than when they're more expensive. Also the GTX 1050Ti would be a waste for CSGO, the RX 460 would be more than plenty and as I said a better CPU would help for H1Z1.

So my friend has decided to choose this Graphics card over the one you selected: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Thoughts?? He compared them on GPU Boss and would rather get this one, in case he eventually goes on to play games like BattleField, etc.

He is now thinking about upgrading the CPU and Motherboard, he's willing to spend around around 150 GBP willing to push the extra 20GBP if it makes a huge difference. As for the motherboard, round 50 - 70 GBP.

He'll need new RAM for a CPU/Mobo upgrade and Ryzen is like a month away potentially so he should wait for that for now. RX 470 is a good card, but I wouldn't get a blower style cooler, since you should be able to get an aftermarket RX 470 for around the same price.

Alright that's cool he'll wait the month for the CPU, Motherboard, etc.

So what make you recommend going with? MSI or Saphire?

None of those.

If you're getting a 470, but if the budget is up to £200 odd now, which it apparently is, you'd be better off getting an RX 480.
