Are you using the boring steam interface? Wouldn't it look 10x better with something like this?
Skin used here is "AirSkin"
Here is how you do it.

Locate your steam directory, and open folder named "skins"

Lastly under "Select the skin you wish to use" select your skin. Restart steam and boom, you're done.
