Alright guys, I have a question.
I have a pc already built (I built it a while ago) and want to build a new one. I'll be selling the one I already have to put the money towards this new computer I'm building.
Now, I know what you're thinking; why not just upgrade the one I have with the new parts, right? Well, not all of the new parts are compatible with each other so I just want to build a whole new computer.
Here is the new pc: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
The pc will be used for strictly video editing, hence the 24gb of RAM. I chose a 250gb SSD for programs only, I have a 2TB portable hard drive for project files and everything. How well would the build hold up?

It's pretty bad. What are the specs of your current system? You might not necessarily need a whole new system.

Sure, logical.
A lot of the components don't make sense and it's a pretty bad build to purchase at this point since you could do significantly better for your budget.
Bad cooler, case and PSU choice, especially for the budget. 3x8GB DIMMs is just weird. But a 2x8GB kit and you can add another 2x4GB or 2x8GB kit later if you want/need more RAM. 16GB is fine though. GPU is pretty pointless since the system is solely for editing. Would make much more sense to get an entry level GPU and maybe use the saved money for a better CPU. Haswell CPU makes no sense, it's 3 generations old now. Z97 mothrboard is wasted with a locked CPU since you can't overclock anyway. Current generation i7 would be much wiser.
That would not be a wise way to spend $1k.

Why bother getting a entry level at that? Get a older model quadro card and he's set for editing and there are plenty around with decent pricing. Get a USB optical reader, half the price and match the performance easily.. The 212 on a xeon wouldn't even make sense, he'd never reach the temps for a 212 to be needed exactly.
The case is ugly imo to many breathing holes in the window, he could've at least chosen a fractal 2300 and gotten away with a better solution. He'd be fine with a i5 current for editing if he really wanted to budget it.. Also what was he planning on storing the edits on? Just an SSD and no HDD? The external will not work as well as a SATA connected :/..
